Constant Breaker Tripping
Circuit breakers are a safety device designed to protect your home from circuit overloads and short circuits. They cut off the flow of electricity from your electrical panel to the circuit wiring and connected devices before serious damage occurs. If your circuit breaker is tripping constantly, or will not reset, you likely have an electrical issue that needs to be addressed to a professional electrician. It could be that you just have too many electrical devices plugged in to a particular circuit. If you have tried unplugging devices and appliances and the breaker still trips, it is time to call an electrician. If your electrical panel is old and outdated, breakers may fail to trip when overloaded. This is common in outdated panels such as Federal Pacific, Federal Pioneer and other vintage electrical panels. These old panels have been known to cause house fires due to faulty breakers.
Lights Flickering
We have some good news; those flickering lights do not mean that your house is haunted. Flickering lights typically signify a faulty light fixture, a problem with an electrical connection in your circuit wiring, a faulty light switch, or a poor connection at the electrical panel or other device in the circuit. The bad news is that a flickering light can mean there is a short in the wiring which can cause sparking and overheating in the wiring, that could indicate that there is a short circuit in the system, which you should have checked out as soon as possible. Electrical short and faulty wiring in the walls can lead to fire.
Loose, burned, or damaged devices
Loose or damaged receptacles and switches can cause wiring to short to ground and connections to overheat due to poor connections. Do not ignore these damaged devices – it is far better to replace them before a dangerous electrical issue occurs in your home. If you notice that an area of your wall is warm or you notice a burning smell, t could indicate that you have a wiring issue in that area. This is an especially common symptom around light switches.
